Notes: Start with #1 and #2. After permit and Net Metering application, items 3: "c", "d", "e", can go on at the same time. Final inspection is a big event, enabling completion of your paperwork requirements.
|
IMPORTANT: "Connections without approval by SCE can be deemed 'energy theft', and require repayment."
|
- It is very important to complete the Net Metering application as soon as possible, it gives SCE time to assign your "NM number" as a permitted "co-generating" partner and to complete the contract which must be approved and signed prior to grid connection.
- The operator of the grid is entitled to know who and what equipment is connected to it, this is basic common sense.
- The paper "hard copy" of the Net Metering contract must be signed by both parties (SCE and you, as their new partner). SCE will generate the contract and send it to you, sign it and return it. After approval, you will not have to worry about this important snag.
- Only "grid-connected" systems are eligible for the CEC buydown (rebate), so if you expect this important financial help, you must be grid connected -- which means a "Net Metering" number assigned by SCE and contract approval.
- If you are not planning to be connected to the grid (ie: putting a system on a boat or in the desert) the net metering contract is not necessary.
